Cable assembly and wire harness RFQ builder

Fill in what you know about the part. You get a request for quotation every supplier can price the same way, and a list of the gaps that would make their quotes impossible to compare. It runs in your browser: nothing you type is sent anywhere.

Your draft is saved in this browser only, so you can come back to it. Nothing is sent anywhere.

    How to use the RFQ

Attach the drawing and bill of materials named in the RFQ, and send the same package to every supplier you ask. If a supplier asks a question whose answer changes the part or the price, send that answer to every supplier quoting, not only the one who asked. When the quotes come back, read each supplier's exceptions first: the cheapest quote often carries an exception that removes a test or swaps a connector.

The builder covers the items on the RFQ checklist. For the drawing itself, see what to put on a wire harness drawing, and for the class, see IPC/WHMA-A-620 classes.

    Common questions

Is the RFQ text mine to use?

Yes. Copy it, edit it, and send it under your own name. It is a starting point; add anything specific to your part or program.

Why does the builder insist on all three quantities?

Because price breaks depend on the prototype quantity, the first order and the annual usage together. A request that only says "prototype, then production" produces quotes that cannot be compared.

    Does it check my drawing?

No. It checks that the request says what a supplier needs to know. Whether the drawing itself is complete is a separate question, answered by the drawing requirements guide.
